On
October 31, 2007, police officer Chuck Cassidy was fatally wounded
in the line of duty. He had interrupted a robbery in progress and
became the victim of a senseless crime. He selflessly served with
distinction for over 25 years and in the end sacrificed his life
for the city he loved so well. His rare courage, bravery and dedication
to the citizens of Philadelphia are an inspiration to us all and
will remain a part of our loves forever.
Chuck graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1970 where
he played football, #83 defensive end. He married, Judy, his high
school sweetheart on a very rainy day in July 1981. It was sunny
days ahead as they welcomed 3 beautiful children into their lives,
Katie, Colby and John. As hard as he worked he still made time
for summer vacations in Wildwood, coaching his children's soccer,
basketball and softball teams, and Sunday dinners with the extended
family. Chuck was the bartender and clean up man - and our human
garbage disposal for any leftovers. He loved watching and playing
sports, Frank Sinatra and old movies.
Our lives will never be the same without him here. But our hope
is that, through this website, we can help continue his legacy
of service and good works. We appreciate your help in keeping
his spirit alive….please pass it on

We
love you…
For your loyalty and dedication to us,
your friends, and your work.
For always making us laugh.
For the special way you spoke to us – “thing and thang,”
“whaaaaatttaaa donkey!” “doesn’t have anything
to do with the price of cheese.”
Because you were the only one who knew how to tease Mommy when she
was already in a bad mood and get away with it.
Because even after all these years, you were still able to lift
us by our pants to place the angel on the Christmas tree.
For always enjoying the countless softball, basketball, soccer,
football, swimming, track, dance recitals, and lacrosse games. We
especially enjoyed the “critique” that followed in the
car ride home.
For the loving way you woke us in the morning – “feet
on floor,” “it ain’t noon yet”
For never getting tired of watching the same movies again and again
in your favorite chair.
Because of your willingness to clean up… especially when other
people were around.
For your appreciation of “one more drink.”
And the list could go on forever…
You’ve always been our hero –
and we’re now learning how many other people feel the same
way. We love you, Daddy.
Leni, Coledew, and Tick
